What is the Patient Coaching Progress Program

Patient Coaching Progress Program (PCPP).

My name is Max Verhelst (Bc-HRM) and I coach and support patients at the Better Clinic especially in the mental field. Especially with long-term and intensive treatments in our clinic, customized coaching can make the treatment process run smoothly(er). Undoubtedly, moments of fear, doubt and possibly shaky self-confidence can arise during treatment. By gaining more insight into the personal "baggage", a good and stable balance can be created between the physical and mental condition of the patient to be treated. As a result, possible stress can be signaled in time so that escalation can be prevented. Such a (long) treatment process benefits more from a good balance between body and mind. The Beter Kliniek has thus developed a dual track to simultaneously engage in the specific treatment on two different levels.

PCPP occurs on a weekly basis at the end of each week. Depending on the patient's condition or desire, the coaching can be intensified. The prerequisites for a coaching program consist of four elements:

Responsibility; the patient owns and takes ownership

Behavior change; the patient's motives, values, norms and self-image will be examined

Purpose: what goal does the patient have in mind

Consciousness stands; Living in the here and now. The past has been. The future is yet to come. Stay where you are now.

With various tests, I try to reveal the patient's strengths and weaknesses. I also investigate which conflict management style the patient tends to use. By asking weekly about the state of the human "battery", insight can be gained into what the capacity is being used for. This allows timely signals to be picked up and possible behavior to be adjusted accordingly so that not too much energy is lost. Energy that the patient desperately needs to go through the treatment process as well as possible. Wasting energy can result in stress which could delay the treatment process.

This program consists of customization which is tailored to the specific treatment plan/pathway in relation to the patient. What helps for one patient will not be applied one-to-one for another patient.

With the new Patient Coaching Progress Program, the Better Clinic can make its patients, as appropriate, more mentally resilient and stable.
