In chronic immune disease, the immune system does not function properly. There are roughly four types of chronic immune diseases:

  • The immune system is too strong and turns inward (autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis)
  • The defense is too strong and focuses on external factors (allergies, eczema)
  • Defense is too weak and does not focus inward enough (body does not clear out wrong cells such as cancer)
  • The immune system is too weak and does not sufficiently target external factors (immune disorders, for example, a disorder in the production of antibodies)
